End-Point Assessment Delivery Model Assessment Plans: Adult Care Worker and Lead Adult Care Worker
END-POINT ASSESSMENT DELIVERY MODEL IN ADULT CARE WORKER AND LEAD ADULT CARE WORKER
From May 2017, every apprentice will have to pass through the end point assessment before being issued an apprenticeship certificate. That is why Able Trust Ltd is investing resources to facilitate delivery of quality and effective end point assessment for learners. Our delivery model is straightforward and puts learners at ease. Our aim is to learners are tested in the right way without being disadvantaged in any way.
REQUIREMENT FOR END POINT ASSESSMENT FOR ADULT CARE WORKER
Before learner can sit for end point assessment for Adult Care Worker, such learner would have completed the following:
The Care Certificate
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (England) (QCF) (Adult Care pathway only)
Achieve Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
Ongoing assessment by the employer and provider – for example meetings with apprentice, employer and learning provider, observations of workplace, gathering evidence
Completion of the Self-Assessment exercise
REQUIREMENTS FOR END POINT ASSESSMENT FOR LEAD ADULT CARE WORKER
Before learner can be put forward to take the end point assessment for Lead Adult Care Worker, learners must have achieved the following prerequisite qualifications:
The Care Certificate
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (England) (QCF) (Adult Care pathway only)
Achieve Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
Ongoing assessment by the employer and provider – for example meetings with apprentice, employer and learning provider, observations of workplace, gathering evidence
Completion of the Self-Assessment exercise
WHAT DOES THE END POINT ASSESSMENT ENTAILS?
End point assessment consist of two parts.
Part 1: Multiple choice exam
This is a 60-miunutes exam done on the computer on paper version. The multiple choice exam consist of 60 questions. You must score 40 marks out of 60 to pass the test. If you fail, you can retake depending on your score. Candidates achieving between 25 and 39 correct answers may retake the assessment on one further occasion within three months. Candidates achieving fewer than 25 correct answers will not be allowed to retake the assignment until they have completed a professional review of performance and acted on its findings.
Below is the grade points:
Acceptable achievement (Pass) 40 correct answers
Good achievement (Merit) 50 or more correct answers
Outstanding achievement (Distinction) 55 or more correct answers
Part 2: Professional discussion
Professional discussion – This is the oral part of the assessment. As the name suggest, learner will be engage in a formal discussion around the qualification, including what they have gained and how they have been putting these into practice.
The discussion may include follow up question from assessor or use of case studies and scenarios.
The duration for the professional discussion is 45 minutes.
Grading of Professional discussion
Acceptable achievement - Pass
Good achievement - Merit
Outstanding achievement - Distinction
PROGRAMME FOR THE ASSESSMENT DAY
1. Learner is asked for ID checks.
2. Assessor takes learner through the assessment process and learner will confirm readiness to sit the exam.
3. Learner starts part 1 : multiple choice test for 60 minutes.
4. Learner went on coffee break while assessor is marking the test.
5. If learner passed, learner will starts part 2 after 30 minutes break.
6. Successful learner will be told and assessor recommends learner to be certificated.
